About Mahaveer Bhagwaan :- 

Mahavira (Mahāvīra), also known as Vardhamāna, was the twenty-fourth Tirthankara (ford-maker) of Jainism. In the Jain tradition, it is believed that Mahavira was born in the early part of the 6th century BC into a royal family in what is now Bihar, India. At the age of thirty, abandoning all worldly possessions, he left his home in pursuit of spiritual awakening and became an ascetic. For the next twelve and a half years, Mahavira practiced intense meditation and severe austerities, after which he is believed to have attained Kevala Jnana (omniscience). He preached for thirty years, and is believed by Jains to have died in the 6th century BC. Mahavira died at the age of 72, and his remains were cremated.

• भगवान्  महावीर की माता का नाम त्रिशला और पिता सिद्धार्थ देव थे
• भगवान् महावीर का गोत्र काश्यप था | 
• जैन धर्म को 24वें तीर्थंकर महावीर स्वामी कार्तिक अमावस्या को दीपावली के दिन बिहारशरीफ़ से 8 किमी दक्षिण-पूर्व पावापुरी निर्वाण( मृत्यु) प्राप्त किया था।
• भगवान् महावीर 72 वर्ष की उम्र में दीक्षा प्राप्त किये

• जब महावीर का जन्म हुआ तब चंद्रमा उत्तरा फाल्गुनी नक्षत्र का उपयोग कर रहा था।
• आधुनिक काल गणना के अनुसार भगवान महावीर का जन्म 27 मार्च, सोमवार 598 ई.पू. माना जाता है। 
• भगवान महावीर का 2600 वां जन्म कल्याण महोत्सव वर्ष 2001 ई. यानी 2001+599= 2600 में मनाया जाएगा। 
• कल्पसूत्र, निर्वाण भक्ति और उत्तर पुराण आदि रचनाओं में भगवान महावीर की जन्मतिथि चैत्र शुक्ल त्रयोदशी की रात्रि में हुआ था।
• आधुनिक इतिहासकारों और जैन विद्वानों ने भी प्रचीन जैन शास्त्रों का गहन अध्ययन कर स्पष्ट किया कि भगवान महावीर का जन्म नालंदा से पश्चिम में दो किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित कुंडलपुर अथवा बिहार के मुंगेर जिले में लछुवाड़ गांव से दक्षिण में नदी किनारे क्षत्रिए कुंड में हुआ होगा। ये दोनों ही स्थान भगवान महावीर के समय स्थित मगध राज्य की सीमा के अंतर्गत आते हैं।
